“Shows the writer's command of the genre... authenticity that'd make Beau Willimon proud..." The Black List
House of Cards meets Serendipity.
This romantic THRILLER delivers an opening action sequence for the male lead that’s right out of Mission Impossible, and a transformational love story for a 20-something female lead that would melt the heart of Jean Valjean.
F.M. Andretti and his Navy "SWICK" team dive into a fiery Gulf War battle zone on a search and rescue mission for Navy SEALS.
Terrorists, masquerading as fisherman, lie in wait. Sharks circle.
The crew argues about saving a civilian in the water. Turns out he is a terrorist. He fires on them, and the other terrorists attack leaving a wounded F.M. and his bloodied crew in shark-infested waters, after hailing: Mayday! Mayday!.
With the passing of her father, Julianne Lombardi inherits his position as the Chair of one of Suffolk County, N.Y.'s two politcal parties. She now decides who gets to run for office, and who from the other side will get a "free run."
In a high-stakes deal that could get her out of local politics and onto the national stage, Julianne recruits the Gulf War Hero, F.M. Falcone, to run against her father's political arch enemy. What he does not know is: She's set him up to lose.
Almost immediately, Julianne begins to have second thoughts. She wants to climb the ladder, but she's falling hard for F.M. To make matters worse, he's on a mission to save lives at home, and has taken up a new fight. He wants to close a Department of Defense Lab that's leaking radioactive waste into the groundwater and making people sick. Before she can make things right between them, she loses control of the situation.
Julianne learns F.M. was not really the man she thought he was. So now it's all about her. Will she destroy F.M. and some of the people closest to him to ensure her place in the political hierarchy? Or will she choose to "do the right thing" and stop treating politics like just another game?
FREE RUN
Julianne Lombardi always wanted to play in the big leagues. Her father's premature death catapults her into power. She takes over as county chairman of one of her state's two political parties. She had seemed destined to work on local races with mediocre candidates, and her lifelong dream of making it to the political big leagues seemed hopeless. But now, Governor Jim Campbell offers her a fast but perilous way to the top, albeit by risky and illegal means. She decides to take the leap and run the risk.
Julianne sets aside her blood feud with a state senator from the other political party and sets up a "Free Run" for him. She finds a candidate she can set up to lose a race that any Democrat in that district would generally win. In exchange, the Senator promises to deliver a coveted political prize to the Governor and Julianne. But because Free Runs are illegal, she has to find a candidate who is new to the game and won't suspect the fix is in. Julianne needs someone naive to the real hardball game of politics. Someone she can undermine, if not destroy, at just the right moment so it all looks good.
Julianne's closest ally and lifelong mentor/surrogate mother, Gloria, tests her willingness to make the soul-crushing compromise. Julianne waves off the warnings and goes for it. That is until she starts to fall for the Gulf War Hero she's recruited to betray. His name is F.M. Andretti, and he's a Gulf War hero. His issue: People are dying from breast cancer at alarming rates in the district. He takes on the National Defense Lab that's been leaking radioactive waste. It is the cause. What's more, it's personal for him. His own mother is dying of cancer.
The race heats up. Julianne gets way too emotionally involved. Soon, she loses control of the outcome to an old flame from the other side of the aisle. Now, what will she do?
What can she do?
She has already delivered a FREE RUN.
Or has she?
